Trap/Skeet & Five Stand
Four Trap and Skeet stations are shown in the foreground with a Five-Stand area past that. Another area for gun setup and adjustment is in the upper right corner of this photo. The orange debris consists of broken clay targets.

The Trap and Skeet operation and the Five-Stand are oriented with all of the firing done northward. Due to the nature of the sport, the shotguns are pointed upward for the airborne clay targets. This promotes the sound traveling a greater distance to the north. Again, the Kensington Metropark golf course can be seen just on the other side of Interstate 96.
Above is another view of the Trap & Skeet range also showing the eastern portion of the Sporting Clays course. In the lower right of this picture is Kent Lake Beach of Island Lake Recreation Area. Kent Lake beach is less than 1000 feet from the shooting activity.

Although this portion of the shooting range is very large, the number of shooters at any one time is small. However, the nature of the activity points the muzzle blasts on an upward angle, thereby easily transmitting the sound over any sound barrier or berm.
