DNR schedules new sound tests
After continued meetings between
the Department of Natural Resources, Citizens for a Quiet Community,
Green Oak Township, Huron Clinton Metropolitan Authority (Kensington
Park), and representatives from the Michigan legislature, the
DNR has arranged for new sound tests.
The controlled-study sound tests will
measure gunshot noise received throughout the community from
the Island Lake Shooting Range. These tests will analyze the sound
received in a variety of environmental conditions to determine
the most noise offending shooting locations. Recommendations will
be made for shooting station configuration or range modifications
for noise reduction. This new sound study will be completed
in the fall of 2008.
